Alwaght- The Islamic Resistance in Iraq said it launched an attack on a "vital" Israeli site in the occupied Palestinian territories early Monday.
The group did not specify what it targeted, but the attack appears to struck port of Eilat in south of the occupied territories.
The Islamic Resistance, an umbrella group of resistance factions in Iraq, said that the strike comes as a continuation of solidarity with Gaza amid the ongoing genocidal war on the besieged Palestinian enclave.
Al-Mayadeen cited the Islamic Resistance as affirming its continuation in "striking the enemy's strongholds."
Simultaneously, Israeli media reported that a fire broke out after sirens sounded in "Eilat" due to a falling rocket, drone, or interceptor missile, adding that firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene.
The media also mentioned that "unidentified projectiles" landed in "Eilat", resulting in damage to several locations. They added that a drone attacked a military base, suggesting that the operation originated from Iraq and not Yemen, according to Al-Mayadeen.
The Iraqi resistance alliance has recently intensified its attacks on Gaza in a bid to force a ceasefire amid the Israeli defiance of the UNSC resolution that calls for a truce during the holy month of Ramadan.
Lady week, the alliance said it started second phase of its anti-Israeli operations.
The second phase of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq's operations includes the enforcement of a blockade on Israeli maritime navigation in the Mediterranean and putting Israeli ports out of service.
The attack comes a day after it announced engaging an Israeli military post in the occupied Golan Heights with drones.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq also announced that its fighters targeted on March 26 and March 27 the Israeli "Ovda" Airbase and the "Speer" military site in occupied Palestinian territories using drones.
The attacks come amid a blockade imposed by the allied Yemen in the Red Sea on the Israeli regime as the latter continues its crimes against the Palestinians on the strength of the US diplomatic and military support.
