Alwaght- The Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has met Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut.
The meeting comes as Amir-Abdollahian is visiting Lebanon as the second stop of his regional tour.
The top Iranian diplomatic discussed with Sayyed Nasrallah bilateral ties with Beirut and the Iranian support for Lebanon.
Hezbollah is an ally to Tehran and part of a broader Iranian-led alliance called Axis of Resistance that rose in opposition to the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the Western imperialism.
They also discussed the latest political developments in the region and Lebanon.
Upon his arrival, the FM called on the regional countries to back Lebanon as the latter faces hard economic times due to the American sanctions and the political stalemate.
He said that Lebanon should be allowed for itself to elect a new president, a post currently empty and a prerequisite to pick a prime minister.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran wants nothing but goodness, stability, development and peace for Lebanon,” the FM said on Thursday when he arrived in Beirut.
In a message on X, Iranian ambassador to Lebanon commented on the visit, saying that it “reflects Iran’s policy and its constructive role in supporting Lebanon’s stability and prosperity.”
