ALWAGHT- On Saturday, the Iranian Armed Forces stated that Israel utilized US-controlled Iraqi airspace to carry out its attack on Iran, noting that the country's air defense units successfully prevented Israeli warplanes from breaching Iranian airspace.
On Saturday, Israeli warplanes conducted strikes from US-controlled Iraqi airspace, launching long-range missiles at border radars in Ilam and Khuzestan provinces, as well as areas near Tehran. The missiles were fired from 100 kilometers away and were equipped with warheads significantly lighter than those of Iranian ballistic missiles.
Iranian radar units sustained “minor and ineffective” damage from these attacks, and all affected systems have been repaired or are being maintained. The Iranian Armed Forces reported that a significant number of missiles were tracked and intercepted, successfully preventing Israeli aircraft from entering Iranian airspace.
The Iranian General Staff emphasized Iran's right to respond to the aggression when deemed appropriate and highlighted the need for a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon to protect innocent lives. The statement also accused the US of providing substantial support to the Israeli regime, urging Washington to address what it termed an illegitimate regime.
Iran's air defenses successfully countered the Israeli attacks on military sites in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces, though some limited damage was reported.
