Three Palestinians Fatally Shot in Israeli Army raid on Jenin Camp

Thursday 31 March 2022
Three Palestinians Fatally Shot in Israeli Army raid on Jenin Camp

Alwaght- At least three Palestinians were killed during Israeli regime’s forces raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

Palestinian sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the latest attack took place on Thursday morning when hundreds of soldiers, including members of the elite Duvdevan commando unit, raided the camp as part of attempts to arrest suspects throughout the West Bank.

Witnesses said residents clashed with the raiding forces, who fired live rounds and shot teargas canisters at the Palestinians.

Palestinian health officials said that 14 Palestinians were struck by Israeli bullets, with three seriously wounded and one in moderate condition.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health later said teargas canisters were shot near Jenin Government Hospital and the gas filled emergency room, causing panic and confusion.

The incident comes as three separate by Palestinians in the span of eight days have killed 11 Israeli settlers, in a surge not witnessed in years, and which may continue.

On Tuesday night, a Palestinian man, identified as Diaa Hamarsheh, killed five people, including a policeman, before being shot dead by police in the ultra-orthodox town of Bnei Brak, east of Tel Aviv.

On Sunday, two Palestinian gunmen killed two Israeli security forces and wounded four others in a shooting attack in the northern Israeli city of Hadera  before they were shot dead.

It followed an attack on March 22, when a Palestinian man was fatally shot over an alleged stabbing attack near a shopping center in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, which left four Israeli settlers dead.

Retired Israeli general threatens Palestinians with another Nakba

Meanwhile, a former Israeli military general threatened the Palestinians with another Nakba or Catastrophe, when the ethnic cleansing of more than 700,000 Palestinians took place along with the destruction of more than 500 villages as Israel was created in 1948.

Uzi Dayan, a veteran military commander and Israeli politician who served as a member of Israel's parliament, the Knesset, made the threat during an interview with Channel 14 television network.

“The thing we need to tell the Arab community, even those who didn't participate in the attacks, is to be careful,” he said.

“If we reach a civil war situation, things will end in one word and a situation you know, which is Nakba,” he added. “This is what will happen in the end.”

The string of operations by Palestinians has left many Israeli settlers in fear of further tensions, while others, especially on the far-right, have called for a strong reaction from the Tel Aviv regime.

Incitement and attacks against Palestinian communities have escalated as well.

Shortly after the attack on Tuesday, scores of Israelis gathered at the scene, where they could be heard chanting anti-Palestinian slogans, including “Death to Arabs.”

Israeli settlers launched several attacks on Palestinians and their property on Tuesday.

In the village of al-Lubban al-Sharqiya, located 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) south of Nablus, settlers cut down around 170 olive trees and damaged villagers' homes and vehicles with rocks.

A group of settlers also attacked several vehicles in the village of Marda, smashing their windows and damaging their wheels before fleeing.

Palestinian factions: Our nation is united in face of Israeli occupation

Additionally, Palestinian resistance groups have said in a joint statement that the Palestinian nation is united in confronting the Israeli regime’s occupation, its illegal settlements expansion activities as well as racial discrimination policies.

The factions stressed that Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and elsewhere in the occupied territories are unanimous in arriving at a national consensus closing divisions and achieving political unity.

“The Palestinian nation will never capitulate to the Israeli regime, and will continue the struggle until the end of the occupation,” they said.

The resistance groups also lambasted the recent meeting between foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco – three Arab countries that normalized relations with Israel in 2020 – and Israeli official in the occupied region of Negev.

“They are vying with each other to meet Israeli occupation authorities than to assume their historical and national responsibilities vis-à-vis the Palestinian nation, the occupied city of al-Quds and its sacred sites, and take effective measures to seriously stop the ongoing violations,” the factions pointed out.
