Two bike-riding al-Qaeda terrorists assassinated on Friday Sheikh Abdul Bari Al-Aidarus, the Imam of al-Hazm mosque in Shibam district, which lies in the central province of Hadhramaut.
Yemen’s official Saba News Agency said the religious figure was famous for his opposition to the Saudi military aggression against Yemen.
Meanwhile a car bomb has exploded near a Shia mosque in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, killing three people and injuring seven others, reports say.
According to Yemeni media, the blast took place on Saturday in the Old City of Sana’a, inflicting damage on Qubat al-Mahdi Mosque and nearby buildings.
Last Wednesday ISIS terrorists have claimed responsibility for bomb explosions in three mosques and the political office of the Ansarullah movement in the Yemeni capital of Sana’a where at least 31 people were killed.
Reports say the Saudi regime has enrolled the services al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorists inside Yemen in its efforts to topple the Ansarullah Movement.
On March 26, the Saudi regime started its aggression against Yemen with an aim to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and bring back to power Yemen’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
According to Yemen's Freedom House Foundation, since the start of the Saudi aggression over 4,000 Yemenis have lost their lives so far while more than 7,000 others have been wounded.
About 16 million of Yemen’s population of 25 million need assistance and water supplies, and health services are on the verge of collapse, aid organizations have warned.
Meanwhile UN Human Rights spokesman Rupert Colville said on June 16 that at least 1,412 civilians, including 210 women, have been killed and a further 3,423 injured since March 26.
