Alwaght- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has described the Israeli regime as a “terrorist entity” and “killer of children.”
Responding to a recent decision by US President Donald Trump to recognize Israeli-occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of the Tel Aviv regime, Erdogan on Sunday blasted the “disproportionate” force being used by Israeli forces against Palestinian protesters, saying that Israel was an “oppressive and occupation” regime.
Speaking at a meeting of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party in Sivas, central Turkey, Erdogan said: “Trump’s declaration of al-Quds as the capital of Israel is null and void for us in any case.
“Declaring it as a capital and relocating the embassy has no validity for us.”
Erdogan has called an extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday in Istanbul.
The president said it would draw up a roadmap for Muslim countries to follow as they opposed the US decision. He added that Turkey would oppose the plan within international law and democratic principles.
He added that the US declaration was an attempt to damage peace and security in the region. Erdogan also said the decision ignored a 1980 UN Security Council resolution signed by the US that condemned the Israeli annexation of al-Quds.
Resolution 478 called on member states to withdraw diplomatic missions from al-Quds and described East al-Quds as “under occupation”.
