German Mosque Bombing Act of xenophobia

German Mosque Bombed

The recent bombing in a mosque in the German city of Dresden was a xenophobia and nationalist act

Alwaght- The recent bombing in a mosque in the German city of Dresden was a xenophobic and nationalist act, police said on Tuesday.

A mosque in the eastern city of Dresden was bombed on Monday which left no casualty. The German police now says the attack was a nationalist act in a city were anti migration groups have held multiple demonstrations in the last weeks.

The imam, his wife and two sons were in the Fatih Camii mosque at the time of the blast. Police said they found the remains of homemade explosives at crime scene.

"Although no one has so far claimed responsibility, we must assume that there was a xenophobic motive," Horst Kretschmar, the Dresden police chief, said.

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said the mosque attack was "all the more scandalous" because it happened on the eve of the 10th annual meeting of the German Islam Conference.

About 300 worshippers regularly attend Friday prayers at the Fatih Camii mosque, which lies a short distance from Dresden's historic center.

The city is the birthplace of PEGIDA movement which holds demonstrations across the continent to stop the influx of migrants. The title is the initials for “Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the Occident” in German.
