US Using Phosphorous Bomb in Iraq

US Using Phosphorous Bomb in Iraq

US Forces Firing White Phosphorous Shells

The US army uses the indiscriminate white phosphorous bombs in Iraq, capable of causing horrific injuries to civilians

Alwaght- The US army uses the indiscriminate white phosphorous bombs in Iraq, capable of causing horrific injuries to civilians, RT reported.

Washington Post newspaper previously had reported on the issue saying the US army is also providing its Saudi allies with the bomb to use against Yemeni people.

The photos published on a pentagon site shows US forces using M825A1 155mm shells that create a 10 minute white smoke to cover the forces or, if used in large scales, could cause horrific injuries to all that get exposed to it.

Colonel Joseph Scrocca, public affairs director for the US-led coalition has confirmed the use of such weapons claiming that “Coalition forces use these rounds with caution and always in accordance with the Law of Armed Conflict.”

Although he claims US forces never use the weapon in civilian areas and they only utilize it for signaling and screening operation, Colonel John Dorrian spokesman for the US-led coalition in Iraq Air Force had contradicted his statement by saying “all reasonable precautions to minimize the risk of incidental injury to non-combatants and damage to civilian structures.”

The statement proves that US troops have used or at least are planning to use the weapon in civilian areas.

Dorrian refused to elaborate on whether the US military have used white phosphorus shells against enemy forces, telling the Washington Post that the munitions had been “used generally for the circumstances which I described.”
