ALWAGHT- Early Wednesday morning, the Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements announced that their response to the US proposed ceasefire agreement is contingent on the interests of the Palestinian people and the withdrawal of occupying forces from Gaza.
After the release of unofficial reports by Western and Zionist media about Hamas's opposition to the US proposed ceasefire agreement, the Gaza Resistance issued a statement addressing the matter.
Early Wednesday morning, Hamas and Islamic Jihad issued a joint statement: 'Our response [to the ceasefire agreement] prioritizes the interests of our people, the cessation of aggression against Gaza, and the complete withdrawal of occupiers from the Gaza Strip.'
The joint statement affirmed: 'We emphasize the readiness of the Palestinian delegation to engage positively in reaching an agreement that ends the war.'
A senior Islamic Jihad official added: 'Any initiative must ensure the cessation of aggression and the complete withdrawal of occupiers from the Gaza Strip. The real issue is that the occupiers do not want to commit to a clear ceasefire.'
Previously, on Tuesday evening, a source within Hamas reported that the movement had delivered its response to the US proposed ceasefire agreement to the mediators.
