Alwaght- Iranian Foeign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has said an international inquiry is needed to investigate the Israeli crimes in and around Shifa Hospital in central Gaza.
In a post on Monday, Kanaani said the pictures and videos coming out of Shifa Hospital after a two-week siege by the Zionist regime’s army, as well as the words of eye-witnesses, the reports of the level of destruction, torture, and killing, and the number of Palestinian detainees in the hospital are horrifying.
“An international investigation is urgently needed,” he wrote. “Will international organizations and institutions do their duty?”
"Will the well-known self-styled human rights advocates support the international investigation regarding the dimensions of this blatant war crime, or will the selective and discriminatory behavior regarding human rights continue?”, he went on.
The remarks came after the occupying regime withdrew its troops and tanks from the two weeks after the start of their siege of the medical center.
Following the withdrawal, Palestinian media reported that dozens of bodies were found in the vicinity of the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Israeli regime’s Army Radio admitted on Monday that the regime’s army killed more than 200 Palestinians during the two-week siege of the key hospital and detained 900 others.
A week ago, a woman who was sheltering in the hospital told Aljazeera that the Israeli occupation forces raped and killed Palestinian women taking shelter in the hospital.
Jamila Al-Hisi, an eyewitness who was besieged in the medical complex and managed to finally get out, said on Saturday that women have been subjected to rape, starvation, torture, and extrajudicial execution, adding that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is doing nothing.
She went on to say that Israeli troops have “forced 65 families to leave the area around the al-Shifa Medical Complex whilst burning and killing entire families,” noting that they have burned a building where Palestinian civilians were taking shelter.
