Alwaght- Syrian government forces and local allies continued military operations against al-Nusra Front terrorist group in Idlib countryside to eradicate terrorism and restore security in the southeastern countryside of the province.
In a statement released to state media on Saturday, the army said on Friday it adopted a multi-point attack policy from various axes to launch a surprise attack against the terrorist organizations and disperse their defense capabilities.
Field commanders noted that army units and the allied forces ambushed terrorist groups which are active from al-Tamanaa town in the southern countryside of Idlib to al-Shakousiyeh in the eastern countryside of Hama province.
The high-level coordination among the army units and different types of weapons deployed, according to the field commanders, played a key role in the liberation of scores of villages and hills in the northeastern countryside of Hama and the southeastern countryside of Idlib as scores of villages were regained control in less than a month.
Terrorists suffered heavy losses were with over 150 terrorists killed in addition to destroying more than 10 vehicles, some equipped with heavy machineguns and seizing mortar cannons, ammunition and dismantling dozens of explosive devices on the entrances and roads of the liberated villages and towns.
Syrian forces are engaged in intensive operations to wipe out remnants of terrorists in many parts of the country after a successful offensive to retake all territories previously occupied by ISIS terrorist group in the country. Syria has been gripped by a foreign-backed insurgency since 2011 which has led to the killing of hundreds of thousands of civilians and displacing of millions.
