Alwaght- According to Iranian official news agency IRNA, Jianzhu a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has visited Iran to push for having constructive and sustainable cooperation to strengthen regional and international security.
Beijing faces a threat from so-called militant Islamists in its far western region of Xinjiang, where hundreds have died in unrest in the past two years or so, and has repeatedly pushed for greater regional efforts to tackle the problem. Beijing seeks allies in its efforts to maintain stability in Xinjiang that Iran could be a confidential one.
Meng Jianzhu, who leads China's anti-terror efforts, met with several senior officials while in Tehran, including Iran's First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri and Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli on his Nov. 15-17 trip.
Rahmani Fazli in his meeting with Meng Jianzhu, called for deepening of bilateral cooperation in various fields, security affairs in particular .
"We can have mutual cooperation on fight against extremism, terrorism, drugs smuggling, organized crimes, and human trafficking," he told.
He said a number of crimes committed in the region, were made with the support and financial aid of certain countries, America and Zionist regime's intelligence services in particular.
The Iranian minister said interference of foreign powers in regional affairs is a source of insecurity, saying, "Tehran takes it as its natural duty to help countries that are threatened by terrorism ".
Meanwhile, the Chinese official said the two countries enjoy many political and security potentials to boost bilateral cooperation .
Meng stressed that presence of terrorist groups in the region was a threat to regional security and global peace .
Meng Jianzhu also met Iran's First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri on Monday in which both sides stressed expansion of all out ties.
Eshaq Jahangiri called for Beijing's active role in resolving Iran's nuclear issue .
Mentioning two countries' historical relations, Iran's First Vice President asked for enhancement of ties between Tehran and Beijing .
Iran and Beijing can work together on revival of ancient Silk Road, development of Chabahar port as well as fighting terrorism, he added .
Jianzhu, for his part, declared Beijing's support for peaceful use of nuclear energy by Iran.
"China and Iran have broad common interests on fighting terrorism, and China is willing to further step up cooperation with Iran and play a proactive role in maintaining both countries security interests and promoting regional peace and stability," Meng said .
China wishes to continue with high-level exchanges with Iran and work even more closely with the country on business, trade and security links, Meng added.
"Both sides reached important consensus on expanding and deepening China-Iran bilateral ties, especially when exchanging views on pushing law-enforcement and security cooperation," Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
China has close economic and diplomatic links with Iran and is the country's top oil buyer. China has also been the most aggressive in raising its crude purchases after an easing of the Western sanctions aimed at ending Tehran's disputed nuclear program.
Last month, China's defense minister said that China wanted to have closer military ties with Iran, reaffirming diplomatic links.
China, a participant at the nuclear talks with Iran, has consistently urged a negotiated solution and decried efforts to place sanctions which have not been endorsed by the United Nations on Iran.
