ALWAGHT- President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Iran has signed strategic agreements with Turkmenistan as part of its policy to enhance bilateral cooperation.
At a joint press conference with Turkmenistan’s National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in Tehran on Wednesday, President Pezeshkian described their meeting as productive and effective.
"Strategic agreements between Iran and Turkmenistan have been signed, and we hope these interactions will lead to expanded cooperation in other areas," Pezeshkian stated. He also announced plans to visit Ashgabat soon to follow up on these agreements.
Berdimuhamedow confirmed that the talks were conducted in a "friendly and brotherly atmosphere" and expressed optimism that the extensive negotiations would strengthen the "brotherly relationship between Iran and Turkmenistan."
"We discussed key issues and projects related to gas, energy, electricity, roads, and transportation, and we hope for positive outcomes in implementing these plans," Berdimuhamedow said. He added that a joint commission would be established to oversee the implementation of these cooperative efforts.
Berdimuhamedow expressed his strong belief that these plans will have a significant impact "not only on a bilateral level but also regionally."
He also mentioned extending an invitation to President Pezeshkian to visit Turkmenistan in the near future.
Berdimuhamedow arrived in Tehran on Wednesday morning, landing at Mehrabad Airport, to engage in high-level discussions with Iranian officials. During the visit, the two sides signed four cooperation agreements across various sectors, including gas and customs.
