Iranian Spokesman: US Lacks Competence to Mediate Gaza Truce

ALWAGHT- The US government is too incompetent to participate in ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, as it has consistently supported the Zionist regime's killing machine in Palestine, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

During a press conference on Monday, Nasser Kanaani stated that Iran welcomes any genuine effort to establish a ceasefire in Gaza, where the Israeli regime has killed over 40,000 Palestinians since October 2023.

He emphasized that Iran has used all of its resources in recent months to halt the Zionist regime's war machine.

Kanaani also expressed Iran's belief that the US government is not qualified to mediate in the Gaza ceasefire case, citing Washington's long history of supporting Israeli atrocities.

He noted that the US has always been a staunch ally of the criminal Zionist regime, consistently reaffirming its commitment to Israel's security and unwaveringly supporting Israel's genocide in Gaza over the past 10 months.

"The US has shown itself to be a participant in the war, not a credible mediator for a ceasefire. If the US government had been seriously determined, it could have stopped the Israeli regime’s killing machine," Kanaani added.

The US, Egypt, and Qatar have been mediating a series of indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas.

The latest round of talks concluded on Friday in Qatar without a resolution, and discussions are expected to resume this week in Cairo, Egypt.

Meanwhile, in Gaza, the Israeli regime’s deadly attacks continue, with Palestinian health authorities reporting the death toll from Israel’s bombardment has now exceeded 40,000.
