ALWAGHT- According to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Tehran rejects any foreign meddling in Sudan and is prepared to play a role in restoring peace to the nation.
During a meeting with his Sudanese counterpart Hussein Awad at the sidelines of the 15th OIC summit in Gambia on Saturday night, the top Iranian diplomat conveyed, "We oppose any external involvement in Sudan and stand ready to assist in reinstating peace and stability to the country."
In response, Awad commended Iran's consistent support for Sudan and expressed optimism about the potential for further enhancing bilateral relations between Tehran and Khartoum.
He attributed the current instability in Sudan to the actions of militias backed by certain foreign and Western governments.
