Alwaght- The Syrian army has killed the leader of al Nusra Front terrorist group, in the war torn city of Aleppo.
According to Russia’s Sputnik News, the terrorist, Egypt-born Abu Suleiman al-Masri , was killed during a fight near the Tal-al-Karsani village outside Aleppo. Al Nusra Front terrorist group is an al-Qaeda affiliate operating in Syria fighting against the Syrian government.
Al Nusra front is believed to be the second largest terrorist group operating in Syria after ISIS thus Masri’s death has been termed as a major blow to its operations.
Al-Nusra Front has reportedly confirmed its leader’s death and posted photos of his lifeless body online.
Aleppo is Syria’s second largest city and used to serve as the country’s major trade hub before the crisis started in March 2011. Control over the major city has been divided between militants and government forces although fresh gains by the Syrian armed forces are reportedly changing the situation in favor of the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
Meanwhile, this week the Russian Defense Ministry said ISIS was in talks with other terrorist groups operating in Syria about joining forces against the Syrian Army. “Intercepted radio communications suggest that commanders of several large units of the al-Nusra terrorist group have begun talks with leaders of the ISIS terrorist about joining forces to contain the Syrian Army offensive,” Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Wednesday.
The Syrian army is currently conducting a major operation all over the country to defeat the foreign backed terrorists. The war on terror in Syria got a major boost after Russia started conducting airstrikes against terrorists in the country following a request by Damascus.
