Alwaght- Iran has informed the United Nations, that the recent ISIS terror attacks in Tehran came immediately Saudi Arabia’s repeated threats against the Islamic Republic.
In a letter written to the UN Security Council on Friday, Iran’s Ambassador to the world body Gholamali Khoshroo noted that, “The terrorist attacks in Tehran took place on the heel of the rejection on 2 May 2017 of any dialog with Iran by the Saudi defense minister and his utter threat, emphasizing that ‘we will work so that the battle is on their side, inside Iran.’”
Khoshroo added that, “It is not surprising either that the Saudi minister of foreign affairs had threatened Iran few hours before the attacks, saying that ‘Iran must be punished.’”
The Iranian diplomat further said he had warned in a letter to the Council the last time about “the irresponsible, provocative, and ill-fated policies” of Saudi Arabia in promoting and financing extremist groups and its adventurism in the region, referring most prominently to the kingdom’s 2015-present bombing of Yemen.
He also said despite its patronage for the extremist ideology, Riyadh had been rewarded recently by a hefty arms deal with the US.
On Thursday, UN Security Council observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims of terrorist attacks in Tehran, Iran. The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the barbaric and cowardly terrorist attacks which took place in Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran, on 7 June, during which at least 17 people were killed and nearly 50 injured, for which ISIS Takfiri terrorist group has claimed responsibility. Iran’s Intelligence Ministry has identified the five terrorists involved in the attacks, saying they had a history of past terrorist activities in Iraq and Syria and were linked to Wahhabi and Takfiri groups.
US-Saudi-Israeli Plot
Meanwhile, a senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says the recent deadly terror attacks in Tehran were the outcome of a tripartite project by Saudi Arabia, Israel and the United States.
Speaking in a televised interview on Thursday, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, the IRGC’s second-in-command, said the joint Saudi-Israel-US project was aimed at dealing a blow to Iran’s political and security power.
Salami further hailed the effective response to the attacks and said it “buried our enemies’ political dream alive, showing that Iran will be a graveyard for anyone seeking to endanger its security,” he asserted.
Meanwhile on Friday, Iran held a funeral ceremony for the victims of the twin attacks with thousands of mourners including top government officials attending.
