ALWAGHT- Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned Paraguay’s blacklisting of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) as unlawful, claiming it serves Israel’s anti-Iran agenda and seeks to distract from the ongoing genocide in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
Issa Kameli, Iran’s director general for the Americas department, condemned Paraguay’s blacklisting of the IRGC as illegal and a violation of international law. He criticized Paraguay for aligning with Israel’s anti-Iran policies and accused it of complicity in crimes related to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, stressing the IRGC’s vital role in defending Iran and fighting terrorism like ISIS.
Paraguay’s President Santiago Peña announced the move, claiming it reaffirms his country's commitment to fighting terrorism and strengthening ties with the US and Israel. He accused the IRGC of human rights violations without providing evidence, while the US and Israeli officials praised Paraguay’s decision. Peña has also deepened relations with Israel by reopening Paraguay’s embassy in occupied al-Quds in 2024.
Iran responded by highlighting its military strength through operations like True Promise I and II, showcasing its precision in targeting Israeli military and intelligence sites. Iranian officials emphasized that these strikes represented only a small portion of the country’s overall military capability.
