Hamas Condemns Trump’s “Dangerous” Gaza Takeover Remarks as Fuel to The Fire

ALWAGHT- The Palestinian resistance group Hamas, based in the Gaza Strip, has strongly condemned US President Donald Trump's remarks about Washington’s plan to “own” Gaza, calling them provocative.

Hamas strongly condemned US President Donald Trump's remarks about the Gaza Strip, describing them as hostile to the Palestinian cause and stating that such comments would only exacerbate instability in the region. Trump, during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggested that the US could take control of Gaza, overseeing the clearing of destroyed buildings, removing unexploded ordnance, and resettling Palestinians elsewhere, even hinting at the possibility of deploying US troops to the region. This announcement came after Israel's failed attempts to force Gaza’s population to flee to neighboring countries amid the ongoing conflict.

Hamas rejected Trump’s proposal, asserting that they would not allow any country to occupy their land or impose guardianship over the Palestinian people. The group called on the US to retract the statements, labeling them as irresponsible and in violation of international law. Senior Hamas officials, including Sami Abu Zuhri, dismissed Trump’s comments as "ridiculous and absurd," warning that such actions would only fuel further instability. Hamas spokesperson Abdul Latif al-Qanoua also criticized the proposal, calling it a failed attempt to erase the Palestinian cause.

Hamas leaders emphasized their commitment to resisting displacement, highlighting that the Palestinian people had already endured immense suffering but had remained steadfast against Israeli occupation. Izzat al-Rishq, a member of Hamas's Political Bureau, stressed that Gaza could not be controlled by any external party and rejected any solutions that did not address the core issue of ending Israeli occupation and securing Palestinian rights. He argued that any solution must be based on the liberation of Palestinian territories and the realization of their rights, not on power and dominance.
