ALWAGHT- The Yemeni Armed Forces report successfully downing a US MQ-9 Reaper drone engaged in "hostile missions" over the central al-Bayda province.
In a statement on Saturday, the Yemeni Armed Forces announced that their air defenses successfully shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone using a domestically-produced surface-to-air missile over al-Bayda province.
The downed drone marked the 13th MQ-9 Reaper destroyed by Yemeni forces since the launch of their pro-Palestine campaign, the statement added. Each Reaper drone, costing approximately $30 million, can operate at altitudes of up to 50,000 feet (15,240 meters) and remain airborne for up to 24 hours. These drones have been deployed by both the US military and the CIA in Yemen for years.
The Yemeni military reaffirmed its commitment to defending the country’s sovereignty against enemy plots and vowed to continue operations in solidarity with Gaza. They emphasized that their campaign will persist until Israel halts its genocidal war and lifts the blockade on Palestinian territories.
Yemen has openly supported Palestine since Israel’s assault on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, claiming nearly 45,500 Palestinian lives. Yemeni forces have targeted locations across occupied territories, as well as Israeli vessels in the Red Sea, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea.
Despite facing numerous attacks from the US, UK, and Israel, Yemen has pledged unwavering support for the Palestinian resistance, vowing to continue its operations until Israel ends its aggression against Gaza.
