ALWAGHT- The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan stated that his country is eager to foster friendly relations with Iran based on principles of good neighborliness.
In a telephone conversation on Sunday, Azeri Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on his new position.
Bayramov expressed Azerbaijan's desire to enhance friendly relations with Iran based on good neighborliness and hoped for expanded cooperation between Tehran and Baku during this new period.
Araghchi, in turn, emphasized that developing friendly relations with Azerbaijan based on mutual interests is a priority for Iran's foreign policy.
During their call, the two ministers also discussed recent developments in the Caucasus and various international issues.
Both Bayramov and Araghchi stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations through ongoing exchanges of high-level delegations and called for continued collaboration between their countries' representatives in regional and international forums.
