Alwaght- The Palestinian resistance factions sent a warning message to the Israeli government through the Egyptian mediator, concerning the life of the prisoner Hisham Abu Hawash, who is on an open hunger strike.
Palestine Now news website reported that the Palestinian resistance factions, on top of them Hamas, informed the Egyptian officials that the situation might move towards an escalation if the prisoner Hisham Abu Hawash loses his life.
Yesterday evening, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, Ziyad Al-Nakhala, warned that if the prisoner dies, "we will consider this as a premeditated assassination by the enemy."
Al-Nakhala added, in a brief statement on Thursday, if this happens, "we will deal with the matter in accordance with the requirements of our commitment to respond to any assassination... God has the matter before and after."
The prisoner continues his open hunger strike for the 138th day, with very critical health conditions. The strike comes as a protest at his administrative detention.
Last night, the Palestinian ministry of health confirmed, after visiting Abu Hawash, that it "found the man in a very critical condition, and we expect the worst at any moment."
The ministry added in a statement that it had conducted a clinical examination of the prisoner Abu Hawash, and the medical delegation confirmed that the health condition of the prisoner was highly critical.
The delegation confirmed that the captive Abu Hawash suffers from blurry vision, inability to speak, severe muscle atrophy, and inability to move, while his ability to perceive what is going on around him decreased.
The ministry delegation continued: "We tried to obtain the medical examinations that were carried out for the prisoner Abu Hawash, and we were able to see the last examinations he performed, which were on December 16, and indicated that there was a shortage of potassium salt and an increase in liver enzymes, and no other examinations were conducted for him after that date."
Abu Hawash has been detained since late October 2020. He is married and father of five children. He was previously arrested several times, with a total of 8 years of detention, including 52 months in administrative detention.
