Alwaght- Iran’s targeting of terrorists’ sites in Syria’s Deir-ez-Zor was done in coordination with the Damascus and within the context of Tehran’s firm policy of fighting Wahhabi Takfiri terrorism.
In a statement, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi confirmed that the targeting of terrorist sites in Deir-ez-Zor was carried out with the prior knowledge of Syrian government.
He added that the Deir-ez-Zor operation was just a “small slap” and a warning to those who cannot or do not want to understand the realities of the region and do not know their limits.
He asserted that the fight against terrorism is part of the defense of the security and stability of the region and the security of Iran, which will spare no effort in fighting terrorists and will not compromise when it comes to defending its stability and security.
Elsewhere, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has defended the country’s right to develop it missile program, saying it is aimed at uprooting terrorism and extremism.
“Iran’s missile capability protects its citizens in lawful self-defense,” the minister said on his Twitter account on Monday following the country’s missile attack against Takfiri terrorists’ positions in eastern Syria.
He added that the Islamic Republic’s missile power advances common global campaign to eradicate ISIS, extremism and terrorism.
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) fired six medium-range ground-to-ground ballistic missiles into ISIS bases in Syria’s Deir-ez-Zor on Sunday in retaliation for twin terrorist attacks in the Iranian capital Tehran, which killed 17 people and injured over 50 others.
On June 7, gunmen mounted almost simultaneous assaults on Iran’s Parliament and the Mausoleum of the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini. The ISIS Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for the assaults.
