Alwaght- Yemen’s Ansarullah movement has slammed Egyptian-based communication regulator Nilesat for switching off Yemen's al-Masirah TV.
Ansarullah Spokesman Muhammad Abdussalam said the removal of the Yemeni TV from Nilesat’s platform on Thursday is a pointer that the enemies of Yemen are worried about the revelation of the truth regarding Saudi-led deadly aggression against Yemen people.
He said they piled up immense pressure on the Nilesat to take al-Masirah off air after repeated attempts to silence the voice of the broadcaster and stop it from disclosing the crimes of the Saudi regime in Yemen.
The Ansarullah official said, however, that al-Masirah, which supports the stances Yemeni people including Ansarullah, will continue to perform its media mission on reporting the facts and realities of the war on Yemen. Egypt is currently serving in the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen thus lending credence to reports that Nilesat has take the decision to muzzle al-Masirah TV due to Saudi pressure.
Satellite TV stations airing news favorable to the resistance movements in the region have of late been taken off from regional satellite broadcast platforms. Last December, Arabsat, which provides services to 20 Arab countries, stopped broadcasting al-Manar, affiliated with the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah.
The Lebanese network said the move came after a participant on a live talk show criticized Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in April.
November 2015, Arabsat also suspended services to Lebanon-based al-Mayadeen TV. Arabsat, which is partly owned by the Saudi Royal family, ordered al-Mayadeen off air under Riyadh’s pressure.
Al-Mayadeen director Ghassan bin Jaddou pointed to pressure from certain Arab countries, which, according to him, asked al-Mayadeen not to deal with the Saudi war on Yemen as a humanitarian issue and refrain from covering the Saudi strikes on Yemeni civilian targets.
He also referred to the channel’s coverage of developments regarding the recent tragic crush in Mina, near the Saudi city of Mecca, during Hajj rituals as well as its coverage of news concerning Palestinian resistance as other reasons why pressure was exerted on the channel.
