President Assad Describes Iran Nuclear Deal as ‘Turning Point’
Alwaght-Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has conveyed congratulated the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani following the attainment of a nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers on Tuesday in Vienna.
In two separate messages sent to Ayatullah Khamenei and Rouhani, President Assad described the deal as a “turning point” in the history of Iran, the region and the world.
According to Syrian official news agency SANA, President Assad also said that the deal is an admission by the international community that Iran’s nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.
The Syrian president further praised the Iranian people’s steadfastness in the face of a blockade and the oppressive sanctions.
"We are confident that the Islamic Republic of Iran will support, with greater drive, just causes of nations and work for peace and stability in the region and the world,” Assad said in messages sent shortly after the deal was declared in Vienna.
