Alwaght- The airstrikes by the international coalition in Iraq has killed a prominent ISIS leader on Sunday.
The strikes hit targets near Iraqi city of Mosul, ISIS stronghold in Iraq, destroying four terrorist positions near the newly-freed town of Qayyara, some 50 km south of Mosul.
Five terrorists were killed during the raids, including a top leader, close to the ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was among them, the Chinese Xinhua news agency reported an anonymous security source citing an intelligent report.
The source declined to provide the name or the rank of the terrorist but added that other ISIS members were killed during the attack.
On August 25, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared the liberation of Qayyara after defeating the extremist militants.
Regaining control of the town and the airbase would help government forces free Iraq's last major ISIS stronghold in Mosul, which is located some 400 km north of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
