Saudi Regime Arrests Top Islamic Scholar Sheikh Hussein Al-Radhi

Saudi Regime Arrests Top Islamic Scholar Sheikh Hussein Al-Radhi

Alwaght- Saudi regime forces have arrested Sheikh Hussein Al-Radhi, a prominent Islamic scholar, in Rmaile village in al-Ahsaa in eastern part of the kingdom.

Before the arrest, Saudi authorities had banned Sheikh Al-Radhi from leading prayers, due to his stances against oppressive policies of the Al Saud regime.

In February the Saudi authorities shut down Rasul al-Adham Mosque in al-Ahsaa, after preventing Sheikh Radhi from performing Friday prayers there.

The move came after Sheikh Radhi slammed the Saudi authorities for their crackdown on opposition activists. Before the closure of the mosque, Sheikh Radhi was summoned for questioning following his critical statements.

Sheikh Radhi has openly slammed the Saudi regime over the execution of prominent Islamic scholars Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr, the war on Yemen as well as the Takfiri ideology which is widespread in the Saudi Kingdom.

Sheikh Nimr was a vocal supporter of the mass pro-democracy protests against Riyadh, which erupted in Eastern Province in 2011, whose Shiite Muslim majority population has long complained of marginalization.
