Israeli Spying Activities’ Role in Regional Instability

Alwaght- Along wit the successes of the Yemen's armed forces to strike the ships of the US-led coalition in the Red Sea, Ansarullah Movement, too, has made remarkable gains in various military and security areas.

On Wednesday, Ansarullah forces announced that they for the first time managed to bust a major network of CIA and Mossad intelligence officers whose admissions disclose the secrets of the US and Israeli regime in Yemen.

According to the report of security officials in Sana'a, the spy network affiliated with the American intelligence and Israel has been operating in Yemen for decades, and the members of this network participated in training workshops on espionage and subversive activities with numerous trips to the US, and special spy technology and programs were provided to the network to ensure the confidentiality of communication and transfer of intelligence to their masters.

According to the security service of the National Salvation Government (NSG), this network provided important intelligence in various parts of the Yemeni government to the enemy services. Its operatives, the report said, have managed to build influence in Yemen for decades and even sway the national decisions and laws. The network recruited many members and coordinated their travels to the US.

According to this report, in the field of health, this network helped the spread of diseases in different provinces of Yemen to implement projects and programs aimed at blowing the health sector.

The security services explained that the American-Israeli espionage network had undertaken programs to change values and customs and cause cultural deviations aimed at "spreading vice and manage centers of moral corruption."

To obtain top secret state intelligence, this network did direct wire tapping.

Spy confessions

The airing of confessions of the agents on the Yemeni state television in recent days has caused massive controversy, exposing the methods of espionage by foreign intelligence agencies to the Yemenis.

In one of these confessions, Amer al-Aghbari said that in 1987, he was recruited by the CIA when he was employed in a gardening project. He was tasked with transferring pests and pesticides to various provinces.

Al-Aghbari admitted that he worked as an agricultural marketing expert at the American embassy in Sana'a in 2010 and worked in the field of marketing and production of agricultural products and promoting American products. The spy admitted that he continued his activities in the agricultural sector in 2020 and 2021 and provided Americans with information about the government's activities in this field.

Mohamad Salah al-Kharashi, another spy in the network, said that in 2011, he was recruited by the FBI and worked to collect information from databases, camps, weapons storehouses, security sites, hospitals, routes, and security and military institutions. Al-Kharashi admitted that he began his contacts with the Americans by teaching English to the Central Security Anti-Terrorism Battalion under the supervision of the US military attaché at the embassy, and then in 2010 he worked as a translator for the operation team of the US military attaché.

Abdel Qader al-Saghaf is another member of this network who confessed that in 1994, he joined the US embassy and worked with cultural department. Also, at the American embassy, he was asked to form a network of resources in all fields, including with media, cultural and civil society figures. According to al-Saghaf, all the intelligence and reports he collected were sent from the embassy to the US State Department, and from there he started implementing programs that targeted the country.

According to a report of Yemen's security service, in the US embassy documents, al-Saghaf was named as the "eye and ear" of the US in Yemen, adding that he made precious services in preparation of USOFA and its operations. He was appointed as the head of political department of Yemen television and had extraordinary relations with the press.

Jamil Abdo Muhammad Ismail Al-Faqih is another spy who was in charge of hitting Yemen's economy. In his confession, this spy said that he was recruited by the CIA in 2009 to collect important information in various economic sectors, including the Central Bank, assisting the US to draw a policy to blockade Yemen.

Al-Faqih admitted that he was recruited by Brian Moqreth, the US embassy's officer in charge of economic affairs. His duty was to gather information about the nation's economic sector. Using this operative, the US concentrated on weakening the value of Yemen's national currency.

Hesham al-Wazir, another arrested spy, said "I was assigned to collect information for the US government about the Ministry of Oil and Minerals and electricity company and the Petroleum Exploration and Production Organization and worked to gather accurate and sensitive information about political and economic affairs. As senior businessmen, tribal leaders, and officials joined the United States Agency for International Developments, I was assigned to a wider range of activities in the political and economic fields of the country."

Neutralizing the US plot with Ansarullah's intelligence domination

With the confessions of these spies, the US and Israel appeared to have worked for years to undermine Yemeni infrastructure and plunder its mines and energy resources. Meanwhile, the Saudi and Emirati war waged against Sana'a in 2015 provided a good opportunity for Washington and Tel Aviv to utilize against Yemen information provided to them for years by their agents.

Although the US and its allies tried to eliminate Ansarullah as a serious obstacle to the implementation of their evil plans in Yemen, this movement managed to ward off all the plans of its enemies. The dismantling of the Mossad and CIA spy network after years of activity in Yemen showed that Ansarullah, in addition to improving its military power under sanctions, also achieved many intelligence domination successes and eliminated the US eyes and ears in Yemen.

The arrest of these spies showed that from now on, all of the US and Israeli harmful actives are under Ansarullah's observation and they cannot easily penetrate Yemen's political and security layers.

The disclosure of the US espionage activities in Yemen is also a wakeup call for the countries of the region not to trust this enemy putting up a friend's face. After all, the US presence in the Persian Gulf is not to help the Arab monarchies, but to penetrate the security, political and economic layers of these countries, to easily bring them under its dominance by detecting the accurate extent of their domestic capabilities and potentials.

Political observers suggest that it is not unlikely that the US has the same network of spies in other Arab countries especially Iraq. The most obvious signs is the US-backed programs that claim to support the civil society.

Message to southerners

Having in mind that the US forces along with Saudis and Emiratis are involved in occupation in southern Yemen, the busting of the US spy network bears an important message to the people of the south who think that Saudi Arabia and the UAE are in the country to help them, telling them that the enemies are not here for service, rather, they are here to plunder the country's resources and bring them under their dominance.

Though the Arab coalition and the US try to paint Ansarullah as the enemy of the Yemenis to pave the way for occupation of Yemen and implementation of their plans, Ansarullah forces have proven that they defend national interests and follow an agenda contrary to Aden government that made the south the rampancy ground for foreign occupation forces that are the source of many economic, security, and health challenges.

Massive American spying activities in Yemen show that how strategically important this poor and weak Arab country is for the West and Israel. Its location near the Red Sea and proximity to the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf are privileges Washington and Tel Aviv focus on, because in recent months, missile operations against Israeli and allied Western ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with Gaza showed that Ansarullah has turned into a serious challenge to the Western interests.

The US has been working on domestic challenges for the Ansarullah-led NSG to distract the movement from tight control over Bab-el-Mandeb and Red Sea and protect security of Israeli ships. But these moves have gone nowhere and the Yemenis have now managed to deal heavy blows to the Israeli and American interests.

Spying in Yemen is not limited to the US and Israel, and the UN which over the past decade aligned with the Western-Arab policies stands against Ansarullah. Ansarullah recently arrested 11 ex-UN employees for suspicion of espionage. With these UN employees confirmed to be spies, it gets clear that this international body that bears the banner of supporting the Yemeni people against the Arab coalition has become an instrument used by enemies to hit Yemeni interests.
